• Hey, Hey Chicago, Whaddaya Say?

The past 36 hours have been a whirlwind of craziness, but I have great news to announce, boys and girls! Early yesterday morning, Josh got a call from the church he interviewed with in Chicago, and they offered him the job!

Can I just take a minute to say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Man, oh, man. I am super excited! After finding out the good news, Josh, Jude, and I went to celebrate at the Banshee. Josh drank some fancy beer, and I had a pint of my beloved Woodchuck. Jude had water mixed with Jameson. (KIDDING!). We ate lunch on the patio and talked about all the super cool stuff we’re going to do when we get to Chicago. We’re both really super stoked!

After lunch, the three of us went over to Nay Aug park to meet up with my friend Melissa and her two daughters for a play date. The kids seemed to have a really nice time together. Melissa’s three-year-old, Hannah, did a great job sharing her special markers with Jude. She also entertained us by dancing and swirling her blanket around like a cape of sorts. Melissa’s youngest, Sarah, isn’t quite mobile yet, so she spent most of the time sitting in my or Josh’s lap and being really freaking cute and snuggle-icious.

From Nay Aug we drove right over to our friend Marty’s house for a Peacemeal leadership team meeting. It was kind of a bittersweet meeting. We’ve been a part of the Peacemeal for the nearly four years it has been around, and I think both Josh and I thought it would be our church home for, well, forever. The people from this community have been such a huge part of our lives over these past four years. They’ve been family to us when we were sorely lacking those types of relationships. These people give and give and give… They care for one another whole-heartedly, and they love each other fully. I will be very, very sad to leave this wonderful community.

By the time we got home from Marty’s, it was 5pm, and Jude hadn’t napped all at during the day. The poor kid passed out shortly after latching on to the boob and slept nearly straight through until 6:20am today.

And today… well, today, while all the EXCITEMENT of our impending move was still there at the front of my mind, ANXIETY and NERVOUSNESS were trying to weasel their way in as well. I’m nervous about getting all packed up and ready to move in the matter of 2-3 weeks. I’m a bit nervous about moving 13 hours west to an entirely new city. I have anxiety about the 13-hour car ride with a 14-month-old and three cats! I know it will all be fine (at least that’s what Josh keeps telling me), but I’m still a bit nervous about the whole move.

So anyway, all that is to say that I’m sorry I haven’t written in three days. I’m hoping to get back in the swing of posting daily, though I’m a bit worried that I won’t have time with all the packing that needs to be done. Either way, I’ll be sure to keep you all updated on what’s going on. Night, all!
