I think I got my library card within a week of moving! Of course, I needed it to use to the internet, so I had added incentive … but I probably would have gotten it that quickly anyway. I usually get out about 8-10 books a week. That either makes me pathetic or awesome, I’m not sure which!

I read mostly fiction, though, so I can’t recommend any good parenting books. Especially since most of them (unintentionally) make me laugh. I’ve realized I’m more of a trial-and-error kind of mom, not a by-the-book mom. The few times I try going by a book, it just doesn’t work. My child is just too stubbornly different!

I’d go with awesome, but that’s just me. (=

I’ll take fiction recommendations as well. Have you read Garth Nix’s Abhorsen Trilogy? It’s really, really fantastic.

I’ve never tried any Garth Nix, but I’ll add him to the list of “authors I need to read because I’ve read all the books my favorites have written.” I’m a huge fantasy buff (Lloyd Alexander, Terry Brooks, Michael A Stackpole, E. Nesbit … doesn’t really matter what age range, as long as it’s well-written!), but lately I’ve been loving Miss Read’s Fairacre and Thrush Green Chronicles. They’re perfect to curl up with on a cold winter day!
