Louise-I've heard good things about the Stroud series. I'll let you know if The Amulet of Samarkand is worth a re-read.

You're quite the history buff, aren't you?

Atena-Silver on the Tree is *finally* "available for pickup" at the RP branch (thank goodness!), but thanks so, so much for the offer.

I haven't met Renuka, but I've had a few really nice conversations with one of the women who works at the checkout desk. I wish I knew her name, but I don't. If you ever feel like taking a stroll down there, let me know! Jude and I would walk to the library every day if we could!

The Dark is Rising series continues to be an old standby favorite of mine. Silver on the Tree was my favorite, and I have a beat-to-hell, but still intact copy if you'd care to borrow it.

I always feel like I should be at the library more (I went frequently when I was pregnant with Stella, and I have a fine for some late returns that is only slightly older than she is). It also doesn't help that I have yet to have a positive experience with any of the staff at the RP library (except, of course, Renuka the teacher/tutor).

But the inter-library load turnaround wasn't bad, and it's a nice facility. Enjoy your reading!

I'm glad you're enjoying the DiR series! I keep planning on getting Eldest out of our library, but every time I go in someone else has it out, and I never can remember to request them to hold it. Oh well. I vaguely remember reading The Amulet of Samarkand when I was pregnant with Bug, but I don't remember if I liked it or not. I think I was in the midst of morning sickness at the time.

My reading list right now is either Russian or Welsh history, Knowing God by JI Packer, and whatever good fiction I find in the fantasy or mystery or children's section of the library!
