Summary

We’re finally back in Chicago, riding the L and sleeping in our own bed. Our trip to PA was busy and tiring, but great.

Highlights from the trip include: Eating at Abe’s and Zummo’s and The Banshee! Dinner party at Helen’s! Seeing our friends! Going to the chiropractor! Partying with our Peacemeal community! and visiting with family!

Lowlights from the trip include: Jude clawing at my eyes while I tried to make him adhere to the “Fasten Seat Belt Sign!” Getting airsick! Jude falling out of the bed on our first night in town! Forgetting Jude’s Larry the Cucumber stuffed toy on the plane! and Josh coming home with a nice case of pink eye, a cold, and what might be a ruptured eardrum!

Sounds fun, eh?

Honestly, the trip was great. Jude had a blast playing with the Bader-Saye boys all week, and I think they had fun with him too. We spent a lot of time at the new(ish) playground in Nay Aug Park and at Abe’s Deli. We wasted our evenings away with Scott and Demery, talking and drinking wine and catching up on each other’s lives. I’m so happy we got to spend the week with them, and I’m so sad that that week ended so abruptly.

It was weird being back on the east coast…weird seeing mountains instead of train tracks…weird riding around in a car all week. It doesn’t quite feel like home anymore, but it still feels quite homey.

And now… well, now we’re home. We’re back to cooking and cleaning and play dates and trying to find our rhythm. I’m (slowly) getting back to writing. Josh is (slowly) getting worse before he gets better. Jude is napping. It’s quiet here right now, and I like that.
