Ratatouille
I could have easily titled this post “Halloween” or “Block Party” or “The Cutest Kid in the Entire Universe,” but having lived through the past eight days of Jude’s Ratatouille obsession, I decided to go with that.
This year marked Jude’s first time dressing up for Halloween. Neither Josh nor I really planned on it, and I wasn’t really sure it was going to happen until Jude and I walked out the door, him donning his Remy costume. It was a simple costume–an apron with two rats (Remy and Emile, I think) and the words “Little Chef” embroidered on it and a chef’s hat with rat ears sticking out of it (thanks Scott and Dem!). He looked so amazingly adorable last night… it really blew me away. I know, I KNOW. You want pictures. I can sense that, and I’d LOVE to oblige, but Josh has all the pictures on his computer, and he’s out working at the mo’, so you’ll have to wait. Sorry.
Instead of trick-or-treating, Jude and I went to a local Halloween block party that was sponsored by our neighborhood’s parents’ group. There was music and story time, face painting and stations where you could decorate your own goody bag. Taste, the awesome local wine store was serving hot apple cider to the kids and hot wine to the adults. There was a station where the kids could bob for apples (actually, they had to search for apples within a bin of plastic balls using their hands) and another station where they could decorate cookies. It was a really great time.
Sadly, after an afternoon/evening of fun, my boy is sick. He sounds like he has a frog in his throat, and he conked out on the bus ride home from Lincoln Park today at 5:45pm. I’m sure the time change contributed to his sleepiness, but honestly, for my kid to go to bed that early, you know something must be off.
Pictures to come! Promise!
