Before and After. Almost.
Since I know you’re all super excited about our newly usable porch and our rain gutter planters, I thought I’d share a few before and after (or almost after… we still have a bit to do) photos with you.
Before: (Please excuse the poor quality. These were taken in a hurry.)
As you can see, we live underground. I call our apartment “The Dungeon.” (Sorry there aren’t any pics of the mess that covered the patio floor. I simply could not document that.)
And now, the After:
We attached the fiberglass window screen with photo wire (CAUTION: V. V. POINTY!)
Empty gutter (with end caps attached) that has been cut to size.
Close up of drainage holes
Holes drilled for zip tie attachment
Gutter attached to railing via zip tie
Gutter attached and half-way filled with soil
Gutter along side of porch bordered by dumpster
Gutter with planted peas, marigolds, and purple flower. Space reserved for green beans.
Close up of plants in rain gutter planter
Josh and Jude sifting through dirt looking for the worms they had dug up.
Jude with a little baby worm in his hand. (Picture taken from the safety of my living room, hence, the screen between us.)
So tell me readers… whaddaya think?

I love that you took a -through the screen door- picture of the worm. I love the new view from my deck!

Tracie–I’m not getting any closer to those things than I have to. “Worm hunting” is strictly a father/son activity in this house!
Glad you like the pretty. We aim to please!
Good job
That looks awesome! You guys rock!
Thanks, guys! We still want to add some hanging baskets and some simple patio furniture, but we’re really excited about how it’s coming along. Cheers!
